Lift to Rise
Lift to Rise was doing ambitious work to expand affordable housing and get the community involved in local advocacy, but their communications weren’t making that work easy to understand, access, or act on.
So we helped Lift to Rise trade traditional nonprofit-speak for a brand that felt more like a community bulletin than a government one-pager—simple: energetic, and built to move people. The new strategy is all about range, able to reach everyone from decision-makers at the State Capitol to farmworkers ready to speak up for their communities.

Narrative & comms strategy
Lift to Rise wanted to expand into more forms of storytelling and content, so I crafted a strategy, guidelines, and scripts/copy to help them explore more forms of video, community storytelling, and place-based education across their socials.
Social
OOH
Every year over 700,000 people flock to the Coachella Valley for the Coachella music festival.
We capitalize on that with billboards lining one of the main throughways to the grounds—combining core brand messages with references to the year’s musical lineup.
Web/UX
I led copy and messaging for Lift to Rise’s new website, bringing a fresher, more accessible, and more activating spirit to the voice—so anyone from any walk of life can quickly get up to speed and find their way into the movement.
Impact
Since beginning in 2018, Lift to Rise has helped the Coachella Valley accelerate affordable housing production by 5,000%, successfully advocated for over $6M in affordable housing investments, and directly funded over 1,500 affordable homes.
In a space where ambiguity and density are the norm, Lift to Rise has set a new standard for how nonprofits and government bodies in the Inland Empire manage their comms.
